Monday-Wednesday March 25th-27th, for CP!

TODAY:

 

Today students who missed the exam on Friday will make up their exams. Tuesday and Wednesday, students will watch The Hunger Games movie and turn in their topic notecards. The resources below will allow students to get a head start on the research work and topic exploration. They should continue to research their topics for homework this week to ensure their topic suits them before we begin working on them next week.

Monday-Friday, March 18th-22nd for CP!

TODAY:

EQ: How can our knowledge of The Hunger Games change our outlook on modern life?

Monday, students will engage in an in-class activity called “Would you rather?” in order to test their understanding of the plot of our novel and apply it logically. Students will review and prepare for the Hunger Games exam. The exam will be taken Friday, and students will be given time to complete the study guide in class.  In order to keep our vocabulary quizzes on track–and to give students extra study time–they will have an open book vocabulary day Thursday and test on Friday.

Thursday and Friday, March 14h-15th for CP!

TODAY:

EQ: How can we apply our knowledge of social media and use it to understand the novel?

 

Thursday students will take a quiz on Part II of The Hunger Games. In addition to plot and character questions, students will be tested on vocabulary from the novel. This will be in addition to the Unit 12 Vocabulary quiz that we will take on Friday.

Monday-Wednesday, March 11th-13th for CP!

TODAY:

EQ: How can we apply our knowledge of social media and use it to understand the novel?

Students will work on a packet of information over The Hunger Games Part II. This will be in preparation for the exam, and will be collected on quiz day.  Students will explore and apply knowledge of social media to a study of the novel.

Wednesday-Friday, March 6th-8th, for CP!

TODAY:

EQ: Why is knowledge of propaganda essential to understand, and how is this important in The Hunger Games?

Wednesday and Thursday students will complete notes and an exercise on propaganda online. Students will work in groups to discover the basics on propaganda.

Monday and Tuesday, March 4th/5th, for CP!

TODAY:

 EQ: What is propaganda and how is it used in modern society? Is it effective/ineffective?

Students will be introduced to propaganda and see how important word selection is to the agenda of a person/organization. This will culminate in a discussion of station a station activity.
