Friday, March 1st, for CP!

TODAY:

Students have Vocabulary Unit 11 Quiz. When students finish, they can either complete study guides or read silently. Afterward students can complete their writing project from this week. These will be do Monday as I (Mr. Box) will not be with you again until Monday.

Students are preparing for a quiz tomorrow on Part I of The Hunger Games. They will review/study related vocabulary and content to prepare them for the concepts on the exam.

Thursday-Friday, February 14th-15th, for CP!

Monday-Wednesday, February 11th-13th, for CP!

TODAY:

EQ: What historical and modern connections can be made to The Hunger Games, and why are these connections significant? How do you define courage?

 

This week students will be working with themes from The Hunger Games. Our major theme for this week will be courage. We will continue working with last weeks discussion of the courage scenarios. Students will practice a reaping on Tuesday to get a better sense of the unfairness of the selection for the games and also the amount of courage Katniss shows as a volunteer. Wednesday will mostly be spent with registration, but we may have time to begin writing prompts. These will be discussed in class; they are linked below.

Wednesday, February 6th, for CP!

TODAY:

EQ: What historical and modern connections can be made to The Hunger Games, and why are these connections significant?

Students will have a note quiz from the videos we watched Tuesday. Students will explore the following website to develop a working knowledge and make historical connections between the Roman times and the world created by Suzanne Collins in The Hunger Games. A one paragraph response will be turnded in either physically or electronically. This will serve as a ticket out the door.

TODAY:

 EQ: What connections exist between The Hunger Games and modern society? Historical societies?

 

Students will watch videos and learn about the writing of the novel and learn about the author,  Suzanne Collins. The notes from today will be revisited later for
