Thursday, August 29, for CP!

TODAY:

Take out material from the previous day. We had a class discussion of chapter 4.

Read and Annotate Chapter 5.

Pay close attention to Rev. Msimangu’s words: “The tragedy is not that things are broken. The tragedy is that they are not mended again. . . the house that is broken, and that man that falls apart when the house is broken, these are the tragic things.” Write a response to that statement. How do Msimangu’s statements relate to what Stephen Kumalo feels about his family and the tribe? Do these statements confirm Kumalo’s fears? How do they relate to the themes we have discussed?
